Meeting Highlights - October 4, 2007

Meeting called to order at 7:05am.

Absent: Ali Baksh, Jim Kitchen, Bill Crawford

Next week's speaker TBA. Steve will contact Michael Cleland re speaking about Youth Exchange.

Finance:

W. Stanley reported no changes.

Rotary Business:

General discussion re future participation in Youth Exchange. Agreed to invite Michael Cleland to speak to us.

M. Nadler reminded members that the deadline for GSE applicants is November 1. GSE Team Leader is Tom Stinson (Guelph Wellington).

Dictionaries were presented to Trelawny PS on September 27th by M. Nadler, A. Baksh and D. Scheerer. Next presentation is October 5th at 9:15am @ Plowman PS. S. Brown, J. Bryce and D. Scheerer are scheduled to present.

J. Bryce reminded members to get police checks if interested in participating in Breakfast Club. Meadowvale SS will not allow us into the school without completed checks and process takes up to 6 weeks.

S. Brown mentioned he has 7 people interested in Poker event. Members are urged to start promotion though awaiting tickets / rules.

J. Bryce suggested holding weekly food drives in light of low stocks at food banks. As of next week, the club will have a box at our meetings. Members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items.

M. Nadler reminded members of importance of regular guests. Keep sending out those invites!!!

J. Joseph briefed club on his travels.

Guest Speaker:

Bronwyn Brooke spoke to club about Mixed Member Proportional Representation (MMP). The referendum question on the upcoming election on October 10th.

K. Bryce's number chosen in 50 / 50. Drew white ball.
